Becoming the Woman God wants, day 50

Week Eight

Home Enterprises

Work from Home

She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strenghth and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
Proverbs 31:24-25

1 Thessalonians 4

   11And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
   12That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

God intended the home to be the center of our lives, not just the place we head to recover from our day.  She stayed busy at home and was productive.  Many of us don't have the correct concept of a stay at home mom.  Being busy should not include gossiping on the phone, watching soaps, reading romance novels, and surfing the web.  This isn't productive at all.

Affirmation:  I stay busy at home.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 47

Evaluate Your Countenance

She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
wher he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
Proverbs 31:22-23

Peter 3
     3Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
   4But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
   5For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

"You can read the character of a man on the countenance of his wife."  Our face shows the world what kind of man is in our lives.  If some of us are in unfortunate situations, God can help us reflect Him.  We have examples God gave us, like Sarah.  "You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear" (1Peter 3:6).  If you read about her you will see what she had to go through and how she over came.  Self-confidence is the trust we have in our own ability.  We need to put our confidence solely in God.  "Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame" (Ps.34:5).

Affirmation:  A gentle and quiet spirit makes me truly beautiful.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 46

The Importance of Being Modest

She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he taked his seat among the elders of the land.
Proverbs 31:22-23

1 Timothy 2

   1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
   2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
   3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
   4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

 9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
   10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

In this chapter she gets very honest and real about modesty.  We need to cover ourselves!!  She also mentions that skirts below the knee are just more attractive and just look better.  There is no reason for a godly women to have a low cut shirt or short skirts in her closet.  Are we wearing things for the right reason?  We need to be clothed with dignity.  She also adds that if we are dressing seductively we are just has guilty as the men that we caused to lust after us.

Affirmation:  I am clothed in fine linen and purple!

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 45

Purge Personal Items

She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
Proverbs 31:22-23

Hebrews 12

   1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
   2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Purging!!!  We need to go through our hair and skin products if we don't currently use it we need to throw it out.  We also need to go through our accessories, purses, belts, hats, and scarves.  Less is more.

Affirmation:  I am clothed in fine linen and purple.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 44

Determine Your Ideal Weight

She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
Proverbs 31:22-23

Genesis 3

   6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
   7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

One way that we can save money and be able to spend a little more on clothes is staying in the same size.  I know that this sounds impossible.  If clothing starts to get a little tight, its time to eat less and be more active.  We don't need to go out and buy and entirely new wardrobe.  Lets eat reasonably and exercise three to four days a week.  We need to maintain a healthy weight and be frugal .

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 43

Week Seven

Personal Appearance

Stick With Your Core Color

She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
wher he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
Proverbs 31: 22-23

Ezekiel 16

     10I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk.
   11I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.
   12And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head.
   13Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.
   14And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.

 In this chapter, we are picking our core color(blue, brown, black).  Most everything I have in my closet cordinates with black, so this was an easy one for me.  I do believe we should take time to work on our apearence.  It speaks volumes before things even come out of our mouth.  We also need to purge things that we know we will never wear.

Affirmation:  I wear my core color to simplify my life.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 40

Begin Automatic Savings and Investment

She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
Proverbs 31:20-21

Proverbs 13

     10Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
   11Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

In study, Jesus speaks more on money than about heaven and hell.  There are 125 verses in the Bible that speak about our pocket book.  We should all have financial wisdom.  We need to spend what is left over after we save.  The Bible suggests " He who gathers money little by little makes it grow."  We should be saving 10 percent of our income.

Affirmation:  I invest wisely.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 39

Pay Cash

She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
Proverbs 31:20-21

Matthew 6

    19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
   20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
   21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

We need to learn to spend just what we have.  Buying with cash protects us from further debt.

Affirmation:  I am a wise steward of my money.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 38

Reduce Your Debt

She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
Proverbs 31:20-21

Nehemiah 4

   1But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
   2And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

No more credit cards!!   Pay off debts!

Affirmation:  I clear out the rubble of debt.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 37

Calculate Your Assets and Liabilities

She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
Proverbs 31:20-21

Matthew 6

     24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Most of us don't save like we should.  Do we have savings that we could survive on for two months?  In this chapter she gives us Dave Ramsey's tips.  We should begin by having 1000 in an emergency fund.  Then, we should have an account that has three months living expenses in it.  Pay off credit cards and only keep one for emergencies.

Affirmation:  I don't work for money; money works for me.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 36

Week Six

Financial Planning

Tithe

She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
Proverbs 31: 20-21

Malachi 3

      8Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
   9Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
   10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

You can only give if there is something in your hands to give.  We need to be financial planners.  Create a budget.  In this chapter she gives us four things to keep in mind.

1. Tithe 10%
2. Save 10%
3. Escape/avoid bad debt.
4. Spend less than you earn.

Affirmation:  I tithe because I know that 90 percent plus God equals more than 100 percent without Him.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 33

Transfer Problems to a Tackle List

She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindles with her fingers.
Proverbs 31:18-19

Psalm 23

   1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
   2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
   3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

I believe the woman that is spoken of in Proverbs wasn't a time waster.  So many of us stay stressed about things we don't have time to do.  Make a list of the things you find it impossible to do.  When you have extra time, do one at a time!

Affirmation:  He restores my soul.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 32

Stow Away as Much as You Can

She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindles with her fingers.
Proverbs 31: 18-19

Proverbs 17

   1Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

Now that we have gotten rid of somethings we can store some stuff away.  Jumpstart this project by stowing away holiday items, winter/summer clothes.  Clutter and extras will disappear and things will finally be organized!

Affirmation:  I store up treasures in heaven.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 31

Give Away Everything You Can

She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
Proverbs 31:18-19

Luke 3

       11He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.

Luke 6

    38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Decluttering!!!  If there is something that you haven't used in years, you aren't going to use it!!

Affirmation:  I give away everything I can.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 30

Apply the 80/20 Rule

She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindles with her fingers.
Proverbs 31: 18-19

Proverbs 17

     24Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.

We need to make sure we are not wasting our time and prioritizing the things we want to accomplish.  Today is a lot of work in our notebooks.

Affirmation:  I use the 80/20 rule to help me simplify and prioritize my life.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 29

Week Five

Management Tools

Maximize Each Day

She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindles with her fingers
Proverbs 31: 18-19

James 4

      13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
   14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

In this chapter most of it is work in our personal notebooks.  I encourage you to buy this book.  It has helped me get organized and look at more important things.

Affirmation:  I maximize each day.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 26

Purify Body and Soul

She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
Proverbs 31:16-17

Psalm 51

   1Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
   2Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
   3For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
   4Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
  7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

We must take care of our bodies.  First, we must eat cleansing foods, by increasing the fruits and vegtables we eat.  In this chapter it says we need to be taking at least two baths a week.  By this I mean keeping clean every day, but taking time to take cleansing baths.  This bath includes, epsom salts, baking soda, and lavendar oil in hot water.  This assists in removing toxins from the body.  We can also better our soul by meditating on the word and relaxing.

Affirmation:  I purify body and soul.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 25

Grow Strong by Defying Gravity

She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are stong for her tasks.
Proverbs 31:16-17

Romans 12

   1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
   2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

One the easiest ways to exercise is rebounding.  Rebounding is simply  jumping lightly on a mini trampoline.  Rebounding is like push ups in the entire body all at the same time.  It reduces cellulite and assists the lymphatic system.  NASA studied this and found that the gravity pull makes the entire body stronger.

Affirmation:  I grow strong by defying gravity.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 24

Give Your Body Time to Digest

 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
Proverbs 31:16-17

Psalm 143

      8Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

If we want to continue to have energy through out the day we have to sleep soundly and maintain a good body weight.  We should always try to stop eating three hours before our bedtime.

Affirmation:  I give my body time to digest.

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 23

Purify Your Body with Enhanced Water

She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
Proverbs 31:16-17

2 Corinthians 7

   1Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Water can make a big difference in how we look and feel.  Water cleanses the system, clears skin, promotes weight loss and gives energy.  Lemon is a natural antiseptic.  It can add with digestion and stimulate the livers detoxification process.  Another way to help our bodies is adding a small amount of  unsweetened cranberry juice.

Affirmation:  I purify myself from everything that contaminates body and spirit.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 22

Week Four
Strengthening Your Body

Walk to Boost Energy

She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
Proverbs 31:16-17

1 Corinthians 9

      24Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
   25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
   26I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
   27But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Walking everyday will help us fight disease and cut our risk of type 2 diabetes in half.  It is a great time for prayer and meditation.

Affirmation:  I walk because I'm in strict training

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 19

Plan Ahead for Healthier Eating

She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
Proverbs 31:14-15

Deuteronomy 30

      19I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
   20That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

In this chapter it talks about how bad fast food has become for families.  We are in such a hurry we do not even think about what we are eating.  We need to put our crock pots to good use and plan ahead.

Affirmation:  I plan ahead for healthier eating.

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 18

Eat Reasonable Portions

She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
Proverbs 31:14-15

Proverbs 4

     20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
   21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
   22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

God left his word to help us in all areas of our life.  If we study the word we will find this to be true.  In Proverbs it talks about portions.  Most of us suffer from portion distortion.  Gluttony shows that we are more interested in our flesh than we are in the spirit.  We all want to age as well as we can, controlling our portions will help in this area.  Overeating is one of the worst things we can do to our bodies.  In this chapter it tells us to never clean our plate.  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (Matt 6:25).  We need to exercise wisdom when choosing our meal and portions.  Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's (Psalms 103:5).

Affirmation:  I eat reasonable portions.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 17

Limit Your Sugar Intake

She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
Proverbs 31:14-15

Proverbs 23

   1When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:
   2And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.
   3Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.

(When you sit to dine with a ruler,
note well what is before you,
and put a knife to your throat
if you are given to gluttony.
Do not crave his delicacies,
for that food is deceptive.)

I know we all know that gluttony is a sin, but I don't thing we really think about it.  Gluttony is defined as the act or practice of eating to excess.  I have been guilty of eating without thinking.  We need to take care of our bodies, since they are the temple of God.  Most overweight parents usually have overweight children.  I want my habits to be something I can be proud of.  Sugar breaks down our immune system.  He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls (Proverbs 25:28).  A man who lacks self-control is like a city whose walls are broken down.  If we don't exercise self control, our bodies are broken down where cold, flu, diabetes, and hypoglycemia come in.  In this chapter is says we have three enemies, the world, the flesh, and the devil.  We have to use self-control on every area, or we are open to destruction.

Affirmation:  I limit my sugar intake, lest I become like a city whose walls are broken down.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 16

Resolve to Control Your Eating Habits

She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
Proverbs 31:14-15

Daniel 1

     11Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
   12Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
   13Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
   14So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
   15And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

I know that it is hard to control our eating habits, I know this from personal experience.  I want chocolate all the time and eat on the run, two of the worst things for you.  I want to change this!  It is said that you are what you eat.  Our children will also be the same way.

Affirmation:  I resolve to exercise control over my eating habits.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 15

Week Three
Healthy Eating

Purge Your Pantry of Harm

She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
Proverbs 31:14-15

Proverbs 31

      14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
   15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

I know right now many people are on a healthy eating kick.  One way I can care for my family is by cooking good things.  Healthy eating can help every part of us.  I want it to be said of me, that I cared for my family in this way.  In this chapter, it asks for us to purge our pantry of things that we have no intention of using, and things that have ingredients we can't even say.  We need to get back to the basics of good wholesome food.

Affirmation:  I bring my family food, not harm!

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 12

Be Diligent

She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
Proverbs 31: 12-13

Proverbs 6

      6Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
   7Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
   8Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
   9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
   10Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
   11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

I don't want to show laziness.  I want God to fill me with wisdom.  I know some mornings it is so hard to get up.  If I get the rest I need during the night, I should wake rested and start my day early.  I want to accomplish things and not leave evertything undone when I leave in the morning.  I want to value the time I am giving and put it to good use.

Affirmation: I am diligent like the ant.  I considerits ways and grow wisdom.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 11

Sleep in Peace

She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
Proverbs 31:12-13

Psalm 3

      3But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
   4I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
   5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
   6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

I want to fully trust in God for all my needs.  Anxiety is not of God, I want him to take all my worries.  This chapter talks about good sleep habits.  It is good for us to have an evening routine.  We need to engage in positive conversation with out spouse in the evening.  We need to remove the negative because this causes unneeded worry.  We also need to establish an appointed bedtime.  I want to be healthy, rested, and emotionally sane so that God can use me.  I want peace in my home, I know that this will help my husband and my son.  I need to pave the way for God to do this in my home.

Affirmation:  I lie down and sleep in peace.

Becoming the Woman God Wants, day 10

Devote Yourself to Prayer

She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands
Proverbs 31:12-13

Passage James 5:15-17:
   15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
   16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
   17Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years

Affirmation: I devote myself to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 9

Stay Planted in the Word of God

She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
Proverbs 31:12-13

Passage: Psalm 1:1-3

I want to be sensitive, I don't want to take part in anything the would turn me from the path I am on.  Sometimes we find ourselves comparing our lives with others.  Why are they prospering, and we are struggling to stay afloat?  We reap what we sow, things happen for a reason.  We live in a world where everything is instant.  When a seed is planted it takes time to grow.  The years I spent at Bible college, I cherish.  Our time was used to study and learn the meaning of scriptures.  I have to make to time to continue this study.

Affirmation:  I study God's Word so my life is fruitful; everything I do prospers.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 8

Week Two
Godly Habits

Becoming Consciously Selective

She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
Proverbs 31:12-13

We need to be serious about the selections we make.  We need to use this in every aspect of our lives, music, movies, people around us, and food we eat.  I want the Holy Ghost to guide me to invest my time and energy in the right way.  The bible talks about being diligent.  I want my actions to please him.  I feel if we are being mindful of these things He will bless us.

Affirmation:  I am consciously selective about how I invest my time, money, and other resources.

So thankful!!

We had a wonderful weekend!!  Owen was dedicated Sunday!  I'm excited about what God has in store for my son.  I'm so glad I have a church that shares in this special time.  My in-laws were also there to take part in this cherished moment.  There are so many people that love and care for my son, this means so much to me.

I'm still reading my devotional.  I love this book!  Through the weekend, day 6 and 7, she has you review what you read through the week and put it into action.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 5

Choose to Focus on the Positive

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence on her
and lacks nothing of value.
Proverbs 31:10-11

Passage: Philippians 4:4-9

I don't want to be a complainer.  There is nothing noble or honorable about a negative person.  If we are negative it will effect every area of our lives.  Our mental, physical, and emotional states will suffer.  One of my biggest fears is being an old, bitter, cynical woman.  I see people that have let their past, and mistakes that have happened in their family completely steal their joy.  There is still so much to be thankful for, we are alive and well, and God has mercy and grace for everyone.

Affirmation: I chose to focus on the positive, especially the truth of God's Word; therefore my life is filled with positive outcomes.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 4

Be a Woman Worthy of Confidence

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies,
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
Proverbs 31:10-11

Passage: Proverbs 31:10-12

Does my husband, friends, and family have full confidence in me?  I want to be the same in private as I am in public.  Even if people aren't watching, God is.  In the passage it talks about bringing good, not harm.  I don't want to harm others by my actions or words.  I want to remain faithful, loyal, and trustworthy to God, and my husband.  Do we have private things, that if made public would hurt our reputation, church, and family?

Affirmation: I bring God good, not harm, all the days of my life.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 3

Meditate on Gods word.

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
Proverbs 31:10-11

Passage Psalm 119:9-11,15-16

The bible says, "Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks" (matt. 12:34).  If we are meditating on his word, and hiding it in our hearts, his word will be spoken out when we are witnessing.  When I hear the word meditation, I think of people sitting indian style humming.  It doesn't mean this at all.  Reading the word, learning the meaning, and applying it to my life is meditating on his word.

Affirmation: I meditate on God's Word day and night.

Becoming the Woman God wants, day 2.

Commit Yourself to time alone with God.

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
Proverbs 31:10-11

Passage: Mark 1:35-39

I have been reading today about meeting with God.  This should be the first thing we do in the day.  We need to have a place in the home where we have our time with him.  It can be a closet or corner.  Several months ago, we recieved an alter from my in-laws.  I think this would be the best place!

Becoming the Women God wants me to be.

I feel that I am starting my book at just the right time.  I know that we all go through times when our faith is tested, and times of being in a spiritual wilderness.  I am there.  I feel I am stretched so thin that I have nothing left over.  I started the book this morning and am excited.  I know at times we all lose sight of goals and personal time with God.  I have to start making an effort to have time with Him, He is my only hope.

Day 1

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
Proverbs 31:10-11

Passage Isaiah 54:5-6

In this chapter it talks about putting your full confidence in God.  I know that I don't always do this, I am always trying to do everything single thing myself.  We are his children, He takes care of us, it is all in his hands.

Happy Birthday!!

I would like to take the time to devote a post to my dear friend Shelly(Maxwell)Youngblood.  February 1, was her birthday.  I have known her since I was three years old.  Our great friendship began!!  We have had some great times.  We fought many times, but what sisters don't?  I am so thankful that God put her in my life.  We were able to attend Texas Bible College together.  She has helped me through many difficult times, she was always there.  I love you my Shell-bo!

My 90-day challenge!!

I am so excited about my next endeavor this year.  I have heard some great things about the book I am about to begin, "Becoming the Woman God Wants Me to Be", by Donna Partow.  It is a book that takes you through a 90 day challenge to living the Proverbs 31 life.  What makes this challenge even more fun, is that my dear sweet friend, Jessica Cain is reading it with me also.  We are going to meet every week and keep each other pumped.  Proverbs 31, can help us in so many areas of our lives, spiritually, relationships, health, business, home management, and ministry.  I will update and let you know how it is going.

Proverbs 31

 1The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
 2What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
 3Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
 4It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
 5Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
 6Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
 7Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
 8Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
 9Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
 10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
 11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
 12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
 13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
 14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
 15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
 16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
 17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
 18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
 19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
 20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
 21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
 22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
 23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
 24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
 25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
 26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
 27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
 28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
 29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
 30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
 31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Been awhile.

I just got back from Oklahoma yesterday.  My mother, Owen, and I were there visiting my grandparents.  My grandfather was taken to the hospital on Saturday, suffering a heart attack.  He is home and resting now, we are so glad he is still here with us.  Our world's can change in the blink of an eye.  I realized this weekend that we need to cherish every moment we have together.  God only knows when it will be the last time together.  We spent this weekend making memories, laughing, taking pictures, and sharing old stories.  What would we do without family??  I'm so glad that Owen got to spend time with both of them this weekend.  He brought so much laughter into their home.  He is my little joyful, smiling, laughing man.  God has blessed us with so much, lets not take it for granted.

I'm 27

I can't believe that I am 27.  I thought that surely the Lord would have come by now.  I have got to participate in so many great things over the years.  I guess it is probably good to reflect on what you have learned .  I have made many mistakes, I'm not perfect in the least.  I don't think I would have learned near enough without the mistakes.  I am still not where I want to be, I want to change and grow in my walk.  I don't want to be stagnate, God can't not use that kind of person.

I'm so thankful to have been able to be part of Life Tabernacle since birth.  I appreciate my mother being faithful to church and always having us there when the doors were open.  We have a great Sunday school program, and I was always learning something new.  My youth group as a teen was awesome!  There was always something to be apart of every week.  Where would I be if I had not had that to strenghten and teach me?  I was taught to be compassionate and sensitive to others.  I learned to worship and not be ashamed or embarrassed in front of others.  I had two great leaders that set a wonderful example, Bro. Gene and Sis. Karla.  They invested so much into each of us.  After high school they moved to the college and career class, I was so blessed to have them with me all those years.  Our church had great leadership by Bro. Wendell Elms and his wife.  God blessed us!

I was given the opportunity to begin Texas Bible College in January of 2005.  I went thinking I knew so much, but was I wrong.  This was such a blessing in more than one way.  I have always been very shy and withdrawn.  After just a couple of weeks, I was pulled out of my comfort zone.  I learn more than just bible and doctrine, but about myself and other people.  I loved it!!  Being part of the chorale was probably my favorite.  I loved traveling and giving of myself to other churches.  I learned a lot about ministry and what is important.  I had the opportunity to meet my husband while in bible college.  So glad God put us together.

I am thankful God gave me my husband.  After our wedding we moved to Palestine.  God kept us there for about ten months and then moved us back to Wichita Falls.  God saw fit to place Bro. and Sis. Holley back at Life Tabernacle.  I'm so glad to have had them with me almost my entire life so far!  God is doing great things and has opened doors of ministry in our city.

In February of 2010 we found out that God had blessed us with a child.  He arrived in October and our lives have never been the same!

So glad of all the lessons I have learned and things that God has blessed me with these 27 years!!  I look forward to many more, and excited about what God has in store for family!

A challenge!!

I read a fabulous blog every day, dandeedesigns.blogspot.com.  Recently she posted a series of posts called "30 days of kindness".  This really got me to thinking, could I accomplish all of these kind things?  It is said that if you do something consistently for about three weeks, it becomes a habit.  If we could get into the habit of being kind all the time and not just every once in a while, it would not only effect us, but the people around us.  I am going to start this and go through January.  It's the little things that we do that mean so much.  The least we could do is give a smile, encouraging word, or sincere conversation.  I need to work on this, and hope you will join me.
